The purpose of a car title

A certificate of title for a vehicle or “car title” is an official document that indicates the legal owner of a vehicle—typically issued by your state’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). This document contains information about the issuing bank’s lien status and the vehicle’s registered owner, vehicle’s make, model, and the date of which the vehicle sold.

Gravity Lending takes care of every aspect of your refinance, including lien perfection. We make sure your title is updated with the new lender information and that the previous lender is removed. This process is conducted through your state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). When the title is updated, it will go to either you or the lienholder, depending on the state’s policy.
