The purpose of a car title

A certificate of title for a vehicle or “car title” is an official document that indicates the legal owner of a vehicle—typically issued by your state’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). This document contains information about the issuing bank’s lien status and the vehicle’s registered owner, vehicle’s make, model, and the date of which the vehicle sold.
